Tivoli Gardens, or simply Tivoli is a world-famous amusement park and pleasure garden located in Copenhagen, Denmark. The park opened in 1843 and is located in the centre of Copenhagen between Copenhagen City Hall and the city’s main train station. With 4,6 million visitors in 2016, Tivoli is the most-visited leisure park in Scandinavia and the fourth most-visited in Europe.
Entertainment has always been a significant part of the Tivoli DNA: the park holds two indoor venues and four outdoors stages and theatres with an audience capacity ranging from a few hundred up to 25,000. Each year, more than 2,000 entertainment events are held at the venues and stages.
Tivoli and MONICA
For the MONICA project, Friday Rock (Fredagsrock) has been selected for the validation of the platform. Friday Rock constitutes around 20 open-air pop/rock concerts on Friday evenings during Tivoli’s summer season from April through September, attracting approximately 500,000 guests.
Due to its central location next to a residential area, several challenges are addressed when it comes to improving sound management inside the park perimeter. Coherent with sound management and music audiences, the focus is on security matters related to improving crowd management and safety.
